DOCTORAL PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

  • Dream it.

The curriculum focuses on equipping leaders to meet the challenges of leading in a Post-Christendom context. The curriculum design encourages ongoing spiritual formation, an ability to think critically about issues confronting our world, a devoted Christian lifestyle, and an active engagement of scholarship and ministry practice. Through a online instructional learning model, program competencies are taught through classroom instruction and synchronous and asynchronous learning using digital education platforms. Students complete a context and action research-based dissertation/ministry project, which will reflect the strategic work and learning the student encountered during the program.

Develop a “needs assessment” and “strategic approach” for identifying and addressing a specific challenge and/or issue within their identified ministry and community context.

Complete a thorough implementation project for the strategic ministry model developed for their ministry context and be able to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders in the implementation of the model..

  • Become it.

Students who are enrolled in FBI may apply for Life Experience Credit. Life Credit may be earned for verifiable experience in your given area of study. Credit may be earned for such things as ministry work, missions work, youth ministry, prison ministry, teaching positions, etc.Generally speaking you can earn three (3) credit hours for every year of experience.

    Degree Evaluation

Any student desiring Life Credit must have a degree evaluation completed. A Degree evaluation examines your current credits from other institutions, other verifiable educational experiences you have had and verifiable experience in your chosen degree field. A degree evaluation will determine exactly how many credits can be transferred in and how many credits, if any, can be earned through life experience and other education opportunities you’ve had. The degree Evaluation fee is $185

    Transfer Credit

The FBI will attempt to transfer as many credits for other sources as possible. It is not always possible to transfer everything or to apply credits to your field of study, however we will do our best to accept your previous education and apply it to a Biblical Degree.

    Minimum Credits from The FBI

A minimum of 18 credit hours (6 classes) must be taken from The FBI for any degree level.

What Will I learn?

The classes are written in a 8-week format and are hosted primarily through digital learning platforms. All DMin core classes have a one-week residency component during week eight. There exists the potential for residency weeks to be hosted at off-site locations. Non-residential students are those who elect to enroll in the program exclusively online and may include students local to BHU’s main campus, out of state, and international.

The Program focuses on equipping ministry professionals for leadership in traditional and non-traditional ministry contexts through a combination of theory and practicality. Through an emphasis on formation, candidates will focus on mastering critical skills and thinking biblically about the many challenges facing the local community and world.
